About this Sacred Place

The Donald O. Wilson Park is one of six Inner Block Parks in Baltimore’s Harlem Park neighborhood in consideration for revitalization. Donald O. Wilson Park as the pilot Sacred Place project, will catalyze the masterplan and redesign of the rest of these Inner Block Parks into one connected greenway.

The site is located directly behind the St. James Terrace Apartments, an affordable independent senior living facility, and owned by the St. James Development Corporation, the organization spearheading this project. They aim to create sustainable sites that meet the real needs of the communities around them.

The eventual Sacred Place will provide opportunity to enhance the space for intergenerational use and welcome residents to gather. A threshold at either end of the park will encourage pedestrian use of the park and offer an intentional entry to a place of shade and sanctuary.
