Briana Walsh

It was research that inspired Briana Walsh to become a Firesoul—the growing body of evidence underscoring how nature heals. Specifically, how natural surroundings can help people heal and strengthen—and find hope in difficult times.

As a manager at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Briana draws daily inspiration from observing the ways patients, families and staff summon the courage and strength to overcome often unthinkable challenges. AAMC’s Sacred Place serves to bolster these processes—giving people a place to process, heal, grieve and find strength.

“The healing garden has been a refuge for many patients and their families while they go through difficult times in their lives. Knowing that people have a serene, beautiful place to retreat to when they are visiting the hospital is the biggest reward I can imagine.”

Located adjacent to the Meditation Center, the Healing Garden includes a meandering path of bluestone paving, along with a water feature that transitions from boulders to smoothly polished river stones.
