Serene Perkins

R. Serene Perkins MD, FACS is the Director of the Surgical Program at Legacy Institute for Surgical Education and Innovation.  A surgical oncologist by training, she is also Director of the Legacy Tumor Bank and is involved in several clinical and pre-clinical research studies.  She completed her surgical residency from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and her fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto.  She also pioneered and led the International Surgery Program at Oregon Health and Science University.  She has extensive experience with multidisciplinary patient care, which include the international setting.  She developed and facilitated educational collaboratives for health care providers at all training levels between major institutions in India and the United States.  She resides in Portland, Oregon with her two children.
