WHAT IS THIS TOUR?

In 2026, Nature Sacred celebrates 30 years of creating healing green spaces in communities across America—just as the nation marks its 250th anniversary. To honor this shared milestone, we’re launching the Little Yellow Journal Tour, a year-long journey inspired by the journals tucked beneath the bench in every Sacred Place.

At each stop, local Firesouls and community members will contribute reflections on loose pages in response to a few simple prompts, including: If this Sacred Place could speak to the nation, what would it say? Those pages will be gathered along the way and bound into a single journal at the tour’s end.

By year’s end, the journal will carry the collective wisdom of communities from coast to coast—a living document of hope, healing, and connection.

JUST WHAT IS THE LITTLE YELLOW JOURNAL?

If you’ve ever visited a Sacred Place, you’ve probably seen one: a small, yellow, waterproof journal tucked into a bench or nestled near a path.

For 30 years, these journals have invited visitors to pause and reflect—to write whatever is on their hearts. No prompts. No rules. Just space for honest words.

The entries are remarkable. People write about loss and hope, loneliness and unexpected connection, ordinary Tuesdays and life-changing moments. Strangers read what others have written and add their own thoughts. Over time, each journal becomes a quiet conversation between people who may never meet. A collection of these entries have been curated and published in BenchTalk:Wisdoms Inspired in Nature, edited by Salma Hasan Ali.

The Little Yellow Journal Tour takes this tradition on the road. A special 30th-anniversary journal will travel to Sacred Places across America, collecting reflections from communities everywhere. It celebrates what these journals have always done: give people a place to share—held by a setting that opens us up—and remind us that we’re not alone.

STORIES FROM THE ROAD

Voices along the way

At every stop, we’re collecting stories that will contribute to a collective journal. Firesouls share what their Sacred Place means to their community.

Below: Highlights from our first stop of the tour: Inspiration Point at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis, MD.

“Look around; See what I see; I stand tall in the breeze; One day I will fall; But look around; My small bloomers and sisters; Rooted deep; They will be here; Standing tall; Singing in the breeze.”

A journal entry left by at attendee of the Little Yellow Journal Tour kick-off event at Inspiration Point in Annapolis, MD.
