Nature is not separate from us, and we are not separate from Nature. I've been involved in environmental education for over 50 years. Without a thriving ecosystem, life as we know it is in jeopardy. Access to nature is essential not only for psychological well-being, but also for a basic appreciation that the natural world is a gift and a blessing to be cherished. Urban life without access to nature robs humanity of the basic understanding that we are all part of one contiguous biotic community.
