Journal Program Presentation from University of Maryland
Join us for an exclusive Nature Sacred Firesoul Network event May 3 from 2-3 pm EST

Finding time to relax, reflect, and connect with nature is a continuing — if not growing — challenge in our increasingly technological world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of attending to our mental health and the safety and accessibility of doing so outside have made many more aware of this need to connect and commune with nature.
Over the past two years, an undergraduate research team at the University of Maryland has done a deep exploration into the entries found in the community journals housed in the benches in the Garden of Reflection and Remembrance at the Memorial Chapel on the University of Maryland campus, expanding on a project done by a previous team in 2015.
“..Sitting in this garden, in the moonlight, my thoughts go out to my companions, who through this book are peering in, by every glance and noble grin, to view my life in honest norm, presented here in solid form.”
– Journal entry, University of Maryland’s Garden of Reflection and Remembrance.
The presentation will cover the themes found within the journals using the words of various authors to highlight the importance of this Sacred Place and the many ways in which our campus community finds solace, reflection and healing in the pages of the journals.
