Sound Healing

WOCO Hike and Sound Healing Experience exists to welcome Women of Color outdoors to “connect, bond and heal together, given that many of the societal issues, traumas, and hardships that we deal with in life are unique to us”.

Through guided hikes, WOCO warmly invites participants to come together outdoors, try new things and connect with Mother Nature in meaningful ways. The hikes are designed to help people learn from one another, to share stories and to ground energies through group sound meditation—also known as sound therapy.

“The connection, friendships, and awesome trails keep me coming back every time! I even more so enjoy the meditations in such a natural setting! I cannot wait for the next hike!”
– Toni

For those new to sound meditation, think of it as a method similar to yoga meditation, where one lays down and slows the breath—opening oneself to sound. Here, a person can find a place of stillness. This can be guided by drums, tuning forks and Himalayan singing bowls. The intended outcome is for participants to arrive at a meditative state—a strong kind of relaxation, place of consciousness and balance.

More specifically, as WOCO puts it: “Sound Healing is a non-invasive, medicinal orchestra of pure resonance sound that penetrate the physical to realign the body (on the cellular level), spirit (emotional body) and mind (mental body) with the same harmonic frequencies emanating from the universe by balancing the bodies electromagnetic field. The mind becomes clear, the body extremely relaxed due to the release of tension from the muscles. This modality of healing also boost the immune system, stimulates the nervous system and balances left and right brain thinking. With time, various physical pains diminish from the body, past emotional traumas begin to release from the emotional body and awaken the internal consciousness.”

Using sound as therapy can provide results for a variety of issues including:

  • Sleep disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress management
  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Pain management

"A quiet place. My soul grows still. This, indeed, is a balm for the weary, a shelter for the beaten. I am so grateful for this sacred space. I am now renewed."
