Gerilyn Lackey


Gerilyn Lackey is the Food Access Program Manager at Bon Secours Community Works in Baltimore. In her role, Gerilyn manages a variety of operations at the Bon Secours Urban Farm including garden and crop management and harvesting, overseeing the shared community garden and food distribution program, working with volunteers and supervising farm staff, managing farm partnerships and more.  As a Firesoul, Gerilyn engages with community members through workshops, community gardening opportunities and  produce give away events in order to educate on nutrition, gardening, and access to safe green space to support her community in practicing healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Fun fact: In addition to working at the Bon Secours Urban Farm, Gerilyn also owns and operates Woven Roots, a sustainably farmed and foraged flower operation that provides flowers and arrangements to a variety of clients. She is also skilled in sheep shearing and has visited other farms in the area (including several Sacred Places!) to host shearing demonstrations and workshops.

Urban Farm, in partnership with Bon Secours Community Works

While the Urban Farm was built for growing and distributing food to the neighborhood, the community also wanted to create an area specifically aimed towards providing a place for their community to come enjoy. They envisioned a space where perennial herbs grew thick enough to smell, where bright flowers grew all season long, and where neighbors could sit and relax: a place of respite and conversation.
