This short film tells the story of the creation of the Naval Cemetery Landscape, a green space that is part of the Brooklyn Greenway.
More than a node on the greenway, Naval Cemetery Landscape is a Sacred Place that is playing a vital role in the community. Five years ago, before restoration began, the site was granted a Nature Sacred Award. The associated funding supported the design of this Sacred Place, which includes a bench and journal where visitors can record their thoughts; as well as planting and construction. It also funded a research initiative intended to study the restorative benefits of an immersive nature experience on urban residents who are often alienated from nature. Below is a short documentary film that tells the story of Naval Cemetery Landscape and of the community that’s made it their own.
