Elizabeth Gilchrist is a community outreach project consultant with the New York City Housing Authority Garden and Greening Program. She is a Rockaway Beach resident. For the past four years, she ran a seaside farm stand called Veggie Island, bringing local purveyors to the peninsula. She is also a founding farmer at Edgemere Farm in Far Rockaway, NY. She looks forward to connecting the growers in her neighborhood.
Prior to living in the Rockaways, Elizabeth has worked for family farms on Eastern Long Island and in the Hudson Valley, as well as participated in smaller research projects in Peru, Brazil, and Puerto Rico.
