About this Sacred Place
Located in Pell City, Alabama, the Gateway Community Gardens serves as a wonderful example of how community gardening can harvest more than just vegetables. The expressed goal of the garden is to provide food to the less fortunate in the Pell City area, but the garden also functions as a place of relaxation, restoration and revitalization. With both a harvesting garden and a restorative garden, both the mind and body are full when visiting this Sacred Place.
The Gateway Community Garden is still growing, but it is quickly taking hold in the community. It stands to become a focal point of Pell City; a place for people to come to relax, meet new friends, and become gardeners themselves. This Sacred Place does the best of both worlds: it physically and mentally gives back to the community, making it a truly special place.
