Founded in 2010 by military veterans in Baltimore, The Sixth Branch (T6B) was born from a desire to transition from serving their country to serving their local community. T6B is dedicated to playing an active and transformative role in Baltimore’s ecosystem of organizations and institutions serving its communities. From its origins as a community service club for veterans, T6B has evolved into a significant force for positive change, stewarding more than 20 acres of green space and providing volunteer and technical support to multiple community groups and schools. Their approach combines their values of true leadership —  service, partnership, equity, impact, and sustainability — with the guidance of neighborhood leaders and the dedication of their volunteers.

In the Johnston Square neighborhood of East Baltimore, where access to parks, playgrounds, and green spaces is severely lacking, T6B’s urban farm has served as a beacon of hope and resilience, providing fresh produce, educational programs, and a sense of community amidst challenging circumstances. A Sacred Place here would serve as a sanctuary where individuals could find solace and rejuvenation amidst the urban landscape. Community members would have the opportunity to reconnect with themselves, their neighbors, and the natural world.
