About this Sacred Place
Known as the City of Friends, Ashland seeks to reverse a stigma of economic depression—and wants to work to bring the community together in an effort to combat violence and other social ills that plague so many cities today. Nestled within the Ashland City Park, this Sacred Place, dedicated to the memory of Susie Parker Stringfellow, will serve as a place of acceptance and peace. Shaded by a pergola and surrounded by an undulating planting bed, the bench overlooks a creek. Visitors to the park can often be found sitting in solitude on the bench, reflecting amidst the sounds of water.
