About this Sacred Place

Located in Omaha, Nebraska, the Tri-Faith Initiative is a coalition of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities inspired to unite in the aftermath of 9/11. It exists on land that was formerly a Jewish country club, a marker of that community’s exclusion from other country clubs at the time. Omaha itself has experienced racial segregation more broadly, and continues to struggle with this legacy as it works to move forward in a more equitable manner.

The Tri-Faith Initiative holds as a central goal the desire to unite communities and ensure that their space is welcoming to all. The campus is home to Countryside Community Church, the American Muslim Institute, Temple Israel, and the Tri-Faith Initiative. In the middle of these buildings is the Tri-Faith Commons, which contains the Unity Garden and Hope Orchard. This area, already unique due to the stream that cuts through it and the circular bridge that physically connects each of the three places of worship, is already considered sacred space by the Tri-Faith community for the harmony and deep sense of connection it provides to its community.

Nature Sacred is working with Tri-Faith to create one Sacred Place with interconnected programmatic and design elements. Further updates forthcoming.
