The Youth, Family and Senior Services Department provides community outreach as well as family counseling for youth and families to enhance family functioning. Seniors receive advocacy and navigation assistance with government entitlement programs in addition to emotional support, social engagement opportunities and limited transportation services. The Family Center provides therapy to children and families, with a particular focus on play therapy as well as other creative modalities of therapy.
The staff has put a great deal of effort into providing an environment on the interior of the building that is relaxing and welcoming, and wants to give the exterior a makeover so the outside matches the inside. This would provide a multitude of opportunities to not just provide a creative, safe space for children and families to spend time while visiting the Family Center for other programming, but also for the exterior to become a working garden where therapists can hold sessions with their clients, incorporating nature into their crucial healing work.
