Located in Millersville, Maryland, Opportunity Builders, Inc. (OBI) is an organization dedicated to serving youth and adults with disabilities. OBI supports these individuals in their pathways to full inclusion in their communities.

While OBI has more deeply integrated their activities into the surrounding community in the past few years, their center of operations of OBI’s work remains their 14-acre campus, where they host a variety of daily programming. Much of this exterior area is protected forest, but the portion closest to the building is open lawn. OBI wishes to activate this lawn space, especially as each of the building’s 4 primary program wings has a direct access point to the outside. Enhancing the quality of the outdoor space would increase OBI’s ability to host outdoor events, integrate nature and nature care activities into their programs and workforce development training, increase the eco-friendliness of their campus, and provide an intentional, inviting space for outdoor relaxation and contemplation.
